NEW LONDON, CT — A 50-year-old man has been charged with burglarizing a Truman Street restaurant, police said. Shortly before sunrise Tuesday, police were called to Tony's Caribbean Restaurant at 90 Truman St., for a report of a possible burglary, according to a media release. When officers arrived, they found Alberto Muniz, with items from the restaurant and a smashed rear window, and contacted the owner of the eatery, New London Police Department Capt. Brian M. Wright said. Muniz was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar tools, and sixth-degree larceny, police said. Muniz is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. His court date is June 10, online judicial records show. Court records show Muniz was arrested by Waterford police last month and was charged with sixth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespassing. Records show that since last summer, Muniz has been arrested and charged with larceny and trespassing in Waterford and New London on at least three occasions. Police said the burglary of Tony's Caribbean Restaurant remains an active investigation.
