COVID Vaccine Registration Opens To Rest Of Phase 1c In Fairfax

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — On Wednesday, the Fairfax County Health Department opened COVID-19 vaccine registration to the rest of phase 1c essential workers. Qualifying essential workers who live in the Fairfax Health District (Fairfax County, towns of Vienna, Herndon, and Clifton, and cities of Falls Church and Fairfax) can register. The essential worker groups include energy; water, wastewater, and waste removal workers; housing and construction; food service; transportation and logistics; institutions of higher education faculty and staff; workers in finance; information technology and communication; media; legal services; public safety (engineers); and other public health workers. The health department has more specifics on workers who qualify. Employees should bring work-related identification or paystub as some of the health department's vaccine partners may require ID. The health department opened up registration to the first half of phase 1c on Monday. Phase 2, which covers everyone 16 and up, is expected to start by April 18 in accordance with state guidance. Residents should continue to use the health department's vaccine registration form. Fairfax County is not participating in the statewide vaccine registration system. As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, there are 36,200 people on the health department's waitlist, or 9 percent of the 393,650 who have registered to date.
