ANNAPOLIS, MD — Seven Annapolis businesses failed their tobacco compliance checks, police announced last Friday. Officers noted that they conducted their exams on March 3, testing to see if the establishments would sell tobacco to a minor. An incident report explained that these businesses made the illegal sale:
Tienda Los Horizontes: 2122 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401 Quick Mart: 900 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 Bay Ridge Shell gas station: 2232 Bay Ridge Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403 Main Street Mini Mart: 222 Main Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 Citgo Ridgely Avenue gas station: 210 Ridgely Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401 Chesapeake Market: 502 S. Cherry Grove Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21401 Exxon gas station: 1926 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 The Annapolis Police Department did not mention how these establishments would be punished, if at all. Officers did, however, indicate that 25 unnamed businesses passed the test.
Marylanders must be 18 or older to buy tobacco products.
