Despite COVID-19, Knight’s Taxidermy is growing and looking to expand our talented team in Anchorage, Alaska. Seeking an experienced, full-time taxidermist and rug stretcher to start work immediately. We offer competitive pay, hands-on training, paid time off with a friendly, fast paced work environment. While not required, experience in life-size and shoulder mount taxidermy is preferred for the taxidermist position. There is also potential for habitat building on life-sizes. Favorable abilities include welding, artistic design/composition, sales and management skills. Experience for the rug stretcher position is also preferred, but not required. Hand sewing, stretching the hydrated skin while using a staple gun, lifting 50+ lbs. and creatively dyeing thin areas of the rug are everyday activities. Carefully choosing new patches of skin and hair to replace damaged or shot areas of the hide is also part of the prep work to stretch a rug. Knight’s Taxidermy has been in business for over 40 years, is the largest Taxidermy Studio in Alaska and has an on-site tannery. We are known for creativity and fine detail in every work of art.
