No Beach Sweep In Ocean City, But Other Towns Are Doing It

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City's annual beach cleanup has been canceled this spring due to outdoor capacity limitations. "Due to the popularity of Ocean City's spring beach cleanup event and the 50-person limit on outdoor gatherings, Ocean City will not participate in the Clean Ocean Action Spring Beach Sweeps this spring," said Mayor Jay Gillian in a news release. Officials have canceled other large events in recent weeks due to crowd limitations including the Doo Dah Parade and the Spring Block Party. Volunteers can visit cleanoceanaction.org to see other locations and register. Here are the cleanups taking place in Cape May County: Avalon: 30th St W and Avalon Avenue (Avalon Beach Patrol, 3001 Avalon Ave, Avalon NJ 08202) Cape May: Nature Center of Cape May (1600 Delaware Ave.)2nd Avenue Beach (Jetty Motel: 2nd Beach Ave.)North Wildwood: Hereford Inlet Beach (Gazebo at 1st Avenue and Surf Avenue) Sea Isle City: JFK Boulevard & Promenade Stone Harbor: 95th Street Beach Villas: Beach at Village Road and Bay DriveWildwood Crest: Centennial Park (6700 Atlantic Ave.)Wildwood: Poplar Avenue Clean Ocean Action has staggered the arrival times for the beach sweeps at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Volunteers can select their preferred arrival time when filling out the registration form.
