Description

Boston's Feminist Bird Club, in partnership w/MHH365, will lead a beginners bird walk in Cambridge's Danehy Park. Spaces limited. Many Helping Hands 365 is exicted to partner the the Feminist Bird Club of Bston for this event! Come explore the early spring birds at Danehy Park with the Feminist Bird Club of Boston. This urban green space has several kinds of habitats so we should be able to observe a nice variety of birds—resident birds as well as migrating birds. We’ll go over some simple birding skills at the beginning of the walk. Our hope is to leave you with a greater appreciation for birds and inspire you to speak up for protecting wild habitat, access to urban green spaces, and environmental justice. We’ll send details on where exactly to meet to registered attendees in advance. Spaces are limited—if you can’t come, please let us know ASAP. We will maintain a waiting list. We also have a few pairs of extra binoculars we can lend for this outing. Please email us with a request in advance. The Park is a short walk from the Alewife T station and there is parking on-site—including accessible parking. We will be on paved paths for the duration. ABOUT DANEHY PARK Danehy Park was built on the site of a former city landfill. The landfill was closed to active dumping in the early 1970s. The city subsequently reclaimed what would have been a wasteland, and turned it into a community resource. ABOUT FEMINIST BIRD CLUB (BOSTON) Feminist Bird Club is an inclusive bird watching club dedicated to getting outside in and around the Boston area and having an ongoing conversation about intersectionality, activism, and the safety/rights of all women, non-binary folks, and members of the LGBTQ community. If you’re interested in joining the Boston chapter, welcome! Sign up here.
