Rhode Island Launches Coronavirus Vaccine Pre-Registration System

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island's coronavirus vaccine pre-registration program will go live Wednesday, with resident receiving the first email, text or phone notifications about appointment eligibility, or confirmations that they are on the list. Email notifications from the Rhode Island Department of Health system will come from [email protected]. The department assured residents that the address is legitimate, and the one associated with the notification system. Rhode Islanders not already on the list can sign up on portal.ri.gov. When an appointment becomes available, the system will send a one-time-use code to schedule an appointment, which will expire after 24 hours. While there will be some flexibility about time, the appointment date and location will be set. The system will send weekly messages, confirming that those who signed up are on the list. These messages will come from [email protected]. Rhode Islanders can still make vaccine appointments on the state scheduling portal, or through a retail pharmacy. "Preregistration is simply one additional avenue we have created, but it is by no means required," the department said in a statement.
