PALM SPRINGS, CA — Palm Springs residents can drop off bulky waste and other items for free next week at City Hall, it was announced Wednesday. Two drop-off events will occur simultaneously on Saturday, April 17. Palm Springs Disposal Services will accept furniture, appliances and other large items in the back of the building from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., while electronic waste and shredding materials will be accepted in the front of the building as part of a city-sponsored event from 8 a.m. to noon. City officials urged participants to wear a mask and stay in their vehicles in order to avoid spreading COVID-19. Residents can drop off enough paper to roughly fit into three 9-by-13- by-17-inch boxes, officials said. Old TVs, computers and small appliances will also be accepted. Hazardous materials will be turned away, including batteries, transmission and brake fluids, fertilizers, gasoline, motor parts and fluorescent light bulbs. Those materials can instead be taken to a county drop- off location in Palm Springs at 1100 Vella Road, which is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Participants should enter City Hall from El Cielo Road for the shredding and electronic waste event, and Civic Drive for the bulky waste event. Palm Springs City Hall is located at 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. ALSO SEE: RivCo Motorist Pleads Not Guilty For Death Of Teen On ATV--City News Service
