Hello,
I encountered a brown and black dog late last night, sorta hiding from passersby along the Roy and Ann Bulter Hike and Bike trail. I meant to post earlier but fell asleep after getting home.
The exact location is the spot where dogs are known to jump off the landing into the water, just across from the street from the spiral on the south side of Riverside Dr., across from the eastward tail end of the new Austin Public Library and a little ways down the trail, west of the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue.
I've lost a pet before (and was reunited thankfully) and it was so very obvious to me that this is someone's pet that perhaps has become disconnected from their human/owner maybe earlier in the day, after an afternoon of splashing in Lady Bird lake.
The dog has the same coloring and coat pattern as this image (attached), but is of a different breed, with a sorta roundish face.
I don't know the breed or sex but it has short hair and appears to be a little older and very slightly overweight.
I whistled/called for him/her but the dog wouldn't approach and instead lowered its head behind a limestone wall. I made no attempt to check for tags because it was too dark to see well and also, I didn't want to startle it.
If I had to guess, the dog will return to this spot over and over when there's less activity if not reunited with their owner, which is how we found our dog.
If this is a description of your recently lost pet, please reach out to me and we can try to coordinate.
Thanks and good luck!
