LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville District 70 students whose learning was impacted by the pandemic will have a chance to catch up in the coming months during the district's summer school program. In a news release, the district said it will begin offering academic courses in math, reading and writing for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Registration for summer courses is open now through May 15 and can only be accessed by District 70 students and their family. Summer school classes will run from June 14 to July 15. Lessons will be held from Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Bus service will be available at Highland Middle and Rockland schools for an additional fee, the district said. Students who qualify through their individualized education program will also have access to an Extended School Year program, the district said. During summer school, students will complete a daily screening for COVID-19 symptoms. They will also be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing and frequently was their hands.
