Description
Last night, our sitter let us know that she's still having health problems and just cannot sit our daughter the next six weeks outside of a day or so a week. She's still recovering (not Covid, an injury!) and needs to rest and recuperate. She's available for emergencies but not constantly daily sitting. We're looking for reliable care for our daughter, 8 am - 4 pm. She's very self-sufficient (only child!) and knows how to get herself into her classes. We've got a box of snacks set out for her, her father is home at lunch every day to check in on her and fix her meal, and I'm home by 4. Duties would include making sure she logs in, and letting the dogs in and out if she doesn't. She may have the occasional school question or need to be reminded to stay online or turn in work. But, she's in first grade. The world will not end if a few assignments are missed. Her father can be contacted at almost any time, and I'm available most of the day too (I teach, but unless I'm actively working with a student I can answer the phone.). We have two collie-type dogs, both very good-natured, and some hens and ducks in the yard. The birds aren't anything a sitter would need to interact with; they have food and shelter and a yard to roam in, although they will totally try and sneak in the back door if the opportunity presents itself! They are pets, and if the sitter is a bird person they are welcome to feed the girls treats and spoil them. We'll provide lunch and snacks for the sitter, we've got Google Fiber, and I don't mind at all if they use the washer/dryer or other things as long as they're responsible about it. This is a perfect spot for a college student or even a HS student who needs a quiet spot to work on their own classes. Our daughter will need some interaction and guidance, but it's more along the lines of how much a sixth grader would need as opposed to a six-year-old. We hit the jackpot with this kid! Any problems, and her father can be home in fifteen minutes. She'll be fed and dressed and ready before a sitter arrives and won't need much help, just interaction and someone to talk to and keep her company more than anything else. We can pay $200/week, plus meals, internet, access to washer/dryer/iron/etc., to television and other electronics, and can supply a laptop to use while here, too. Days will be 8 to 12, and 1 to 4. Some days I may be home earlier than 4. No expectations other than keeping our kid company, contacting us with any problems, and making sure she logs in to her classes.
