Press release from the City of Shakopee: April 7, 2021 Start your spring cleaning off the right way with some help from the City of Shakopee's annual Clean Up Day Saturday, April 24. Drop off items between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. behind the Public Works building, 400 Gorman St. Enter off Fourth Avenue East. Clean Up Day is a recycling event where residents can discard old appliances, electronics, yard waste, tires, car batteries, scrap metal and more. Visit www.ShakopeeMN.gov/cleanupday for a list of accepted and non-accepted items. Residents will be charged a flat fee (check or credit card preferred; cash will be accepted) based on the type of vehicle hauling. Additional fees apply as noted. Car/SUV/Minivan: $40 Pick-up Truck: $45 Vehicle with Trailer: $50 No moving/box trucks, trailers longer than 16 feet or commercial drop-offs Clean Up Day is open to City of Shakopee, Jackson Township and Louisville Township residents only. A valid ID with current address required. This is a first-come, first-served event. The line to enter may be cut off prior to 11:30 to ensure vehicles already in line are processed. Free paper shredding, textile recycling Residents can also participate in free paper shredding and textile (clothes, shoes, linens, accessories) recycling. Residents dropping off paper and textiles do not need to wait in line. Shredding and textiles will be located at the front of the 500 Gorman St. building. Enter between 400 and 500 Gorman and turn left into the parking lot. Mattress and box spring donations for Bridging, Inc. During the Clean Up Day event, Shakopee Rotary will be collecting only donations of mattresses and box springs of any size for Bridging, Inc., a local nonprofit that serves people in need throughout the metropolitan area. Donations must be in good condition, with no rips, stains or odor. Due to the current oversupply, no other furnishings or housewares will be accepted. To donate to Bridging, Inc., drop off mattresses and box springs on the south side of the Public Works building. Contact Rotarian Tim Whitcomb at 952-445-6170 if you need assistance with pickup.
