EAGAN, MN— Wednesday's mass vaccination event at the Vikings Practice Facility was postponed due to damage from a storm that occurred overnight, according to a press release from Governor Tim Walz' office. Walz announced that Minnesota will host a temporary mass vaccination event later this week at U.S. Bank Stadium to replace the postponed event at the practice facility. The practice facility was able to facilitate the vaccinations of over 13,000 people daily. Those who had appointments for Wednesday will be contacted directly to reschedule, Walz said. Appointments scheduled at the practice facility will now be moved to U.S. Bank Stadium at their scheduled times, Walz said. "Minnesotans know you can't control the weather, and when the going gets tough, the tough get going," Walz said. "During the proverbial weather delay, we huddled up with the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority and the Minnesota Vikings, and called a new play that's sure to find the end zone. We're proud to continue our partnership and kickoff vaccinations at U.S. Bank Stadium." The temporary event at U.S. Bank Stadium joins eight permanent community vaccination sites in the state, Walz said. Walz recently opened up vaccine eligibility to everybody over age 16 in Minnesota. According to the Minnesota Department of Health, over 1.8 million Minnesotans have started the vaccine dose and over 1.2 million are fully vaccinated.
