Press release from the City of Tempe: April 7, 2021 To celebrate Tempe Bike Month this April, Tempe unveils this month's sesquicentennial scavenger hunt locations, which can all be found along four of Tempe's multi-use paths. Eight containers full of historical bike photos, nostalgic Tempe Bike Month events, fun neighborhood facts, giveaways and more have been placed along four Tempe canals (two containers at each). A list of clues will guide you to each container to gather your goodies. Where: Four Tempe canals – SEE FULL BIKE SYSTEM MAP Western Canal – 6-mile path that connects Arizona Mills Mall to Price Road Highline Canal –3.5 mile path that spans from just south of Baseline to Knox, between Priest and Hardy Crosscut Canal – 2.5 mile path through Papago Park, connecting to Evelyn Hallman and Moeur parks Tempe Canal/Daumler Park – Evergreen Drive and Balboa Drive (containers located in the park) Hours: Daily, sunrise to sunset now through April 30 How to take part: Walk or ride along the multi-use paths to find the two containers on each path Visit the Scavenger Hunt 150 webpage for info on how to find the containers Grab your freebies and Tempe Bike Month coloring page postcards Share your thoughts, memories, or simply sign your name on the notepad in the container. About Tempe's sesquicentennial Tempe will celebrate its sesquicentennial, or 150th birthday, throughout the year, bringing together businesses and community organizations to showcase the city through several events and activities. Tempe History Museum will unveil its new feature exhibit, "Tempe 150," which will bring to life photos, videos and artifacts dating back to 1870. It all leads up to a community festival in November.
