Position: Assistant Custodian
Hours: 20
Reporting Relationships
The custodial position is an employee of Georgetown First United Methodist and is accountable to the Staff-Parish Relationship Committee and reports to the Lead Custodian, the Pastors and the Pre-School Director.
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Good communication skills.
• Flexible and cooperative, able to work effectively with a variety of church members and leaders.
• Ability to manage conflict and maintain positive relationships with staff, church members and members of the community who reserve our facilities for various events.
• Ability to take direction and initiative to work independently.
• Possess or have access to reliable transportation.
Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain church facilities to approved standards of cleanliness.
• Maintain all cleaning equipment (vacuums, mops, etc.) in proper working order. Stock all restrooms with appropriate levels of tissue, towels and soap daily.
• Replace light bulbs etc. as required.
• Monitor and purchase custodial supplies with the assistance of the lead custodian and church secretary.
• Ensure the church is properly secured when working evenings and weekends.
• Assist leaders and volunteers with setups for the Wednesday night dinners and other scheduled events as needed.
• Unlock and lock the church for Sunday morning worship, church meetings and special events.
• Inform the trustees and lead custodian of maintenance issues and any specific concerns.
• Perform basic repairs and painting whenever time and skills allow.
• Ability to work flexible schedule and additional hours as needed.
• Perform other tasks related to the facilities care as directed by the supervisors.
Background Check and TB test required.
