Learn to weld Friday afternoons through community education. Classes are currently being offered at Centralia College for Metalworking and Artistic Welding. Don't worry, there are NO GRADES, NO TESTS, No QUIZZES. This is an artistic welding class. You can even skip a night if you need. We encourage each student to learn at their your own pace. Each student will learn to weld, blacksmith and work with metal to your wildest dreams. The class is $175 a quarter (8 Friday classes). Classes start April 9 and continue through May 28. You will be introduced to beginning welding techniques and metalworking, including oxy/acetylene and MIG welding (GMAW), torch cutting, plasma cutting and the use of metal shears, benders, grinders, punches, saws and drill presses. Students interested in learning other processes, such as TIG (GTAW) or stick welding (SMAW), will be given special instruction and have the opportunity to practice on their own. You will be given an opportunity to complete an artistic project of your choice. This is not an industrial welding class. You will not earn credit hours towards a degree.
