I purchased this female Syrian hamster from Petco a couple of week ago. Unfortunately, she is very high stress and not very friendly towards me. She flinches, freezes, flips over, and bares her teeth at me whenever I try to interact with her in the slightest. I've had several hamsters in the past and this was never the case. My past hamsters have always been friendly and calm. After scoring hamster forums, I was told that this just may be her 'personality' and that she is probably a 'look don't touch' type of hamster. This was a surprise to me as I've never had a hamster like this before but supposedly others have experienced this. I am someone who likes to interact frequently with my hamster so a hamster I can only watch is not something I can deal with. BUT...I have become a bit fond of her and would hate to see her go back to the pet store. So I just wanted to put the word out here to see if anyone wants a 'look don't touch' hamster. I would like to get back what I paid for her (20 dollars) and she will come with nothing as I do plan on using the cage and accessories for a new hamster. I will be asking a few questions as I said I am fond of her and want to make sure she will have a good sized cage and proper wheel. She is fresh from the pet store so probably about 6-7 weeks old.
