TAF, Phetote Mshairi is publishing an anthology entitled, "RELEASE ME, the Spirits of Greenwood Speak," for the Greenwood Art Project. Greenwood’s the body; Black Wall Street’s the Soul…Dwell not on past losses; winning’s the goal! RELEASE ME, the Spirits of Greenwood Speak, anthology is the culmination of the synergy between contributions from an eclectic array of poets (including Poet Laureate of the United States, Joy Harjo), brilliant artists, masterful writers, skillful photographers, sagacious historians, and some talented citizens of Tulsa, OK. The anthology is a transliteration of the voices of the spirits of Greenwood that focuses on the principles that built (and rebuilt) a thriving community. A book presentation event will coincide with the Centennial for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. We will be hosting a live reading of excerpts from the anthology, in the event that it is published in time. The anthology comprises various artists from poet laureate Joy Harjo to local poets and artists. It includes essays, poems, photographs, jewelry makers and wood pieces created for this project.
