Equipment Operators facilitate workload requirements in an intermodal terminal facility. REMPREX culture emphasizes safety as a foundation value, and Equipment Operators must complete all responsibilities while maintaining the safest work environment possible.
Equipment Operators must be proficient in maneuvering heavy and light equipment safely and efficiently. Candidates must also either be familiar with general intermodal terminal operations or willing to learn.
This role will report directly to either the Equipment Lead Operator, Assistant Terminal Manager, or Terminal Manager.
Responsibilities
Equipment Operators perform the following duties and tasks:
Work as a member of the team to coordinate the workload based on the client’s needs
Attend or facilitate pre-shift job briefings
Complete pre-and post-shift cursory inspections of equipment
Operate cranes, side loaders, reach stackers, and hostlers to unload and load containers and trailers from rail cars, as required based on the daily work plan
Ensure that all containers and trailers are properly secured before the train departs the terminalÂ
Move containers and trailers from rail to designated parking stalls in the terminal. Movement to offsite properties may be required at some facilities.
Maintain organization of containers, trailers, and chassis in the yard inventory
Understand and obey all regulations and yard safety policies and procedures
Communicate with Terminal Manager, Assistant Terminal Manager, other Equipment Operators, mechanics, and railroad personnel, to ensure efficient and safe operations
