Who may be considered:
- Prior experience of running a 2–3-man crew on ground operations, felling, bucking, limbing, winching, and chipping required.
- Someone who is mechanically inclined and can keep up to date maintenance records
- Someone who can read scope of work details and provide feedback based on experience
- Sawyer training, level B or C
- Safety oriented and can follow company safety guidelines
- Valid/Clean Driver's License
- Background with compact track loaders and high hydraulic flow attachments desired
- Future training may be provided after experience and a duration of working with the company has passed.
- Self-starter who is willing to grow in their roles and responsibilities over time
- Professional who can discuss the mitigation plan & operations with landowner and handle some administrative duties on-site highly desired.
- Someone who is a good communicator, calm under pressure, has a background in wildfire risk and forest management, and enjoys being outdoors.
Job Description:
As the lead foreman of the ground crew, you will be providing wildfire mitigation services for defensible spaces and consulting with the landowner when needed, based on the company’s guidelines and direction to be provided. You will be responsible for your crew’s safety and hour tracking on the job site. Position will include holding JHAs with crews, discussing operations in detail, developing escape routes, cut plans, running chainsaws, coordinating the crews, utilizing the chipper, winch, and planning logistics for haul off and clean up.
This position may evolve into additional winter work with the heavy equipment as needed based on tenure over the summer/fall season.
