Who may be considered: - felling, bucking, limbing, winching, and chipping experience required. - S212 trained FFT2 or FFT1 firefighters looking to earn additional income - Sawyer training, level B or C - Safety Oriented - Valid/Clean Driver's License - Self-starter who is willing to grow in their roles and responsibilities over time - Safety oriented leader who will watch our for self and the crew - Someone who will implement safety standards based on operational task at hand Job Description: As the lead Sawyer of the ground crew, you will be providing wildfire mitigation services through felling, limbing, bucking, and hauling of timber. You will be directing the ground crew for operational goals, hazards, cut plans, and tasks throughout the day. Position will include holding JHAs with crews, discussing operations in detail, developing escape routes, cut plans, running the chainsaw, coordinating the crews, utilizing the chipper, and planning logistics for haul off and clean up. Supplied for use: Chainsaws & all hand-felling equipment. Landscape equipment as needed (e.g. blowers, rakes, mowers) for fuel removal. Support equipment for chipping, winching, and moving timber. Seasonal work in summer and fall may turn into full year work based on market.
