BROCKTON, MA — Brockton residents assisted police with a drug and attempted murder case Wednesday evening, said the Brockton Police Department in a Facebook post Thursday. Gang unit detectives patrolled near 47 Highland Street on March 31 after residents alerted officers to drug dealing in the area, said the post. During the patrol, officers found a man walking south on Glenwood Street who fit the description of the suspect in a stabbing that took place last month, but the man took off running when police tried to approach him. According to police, the suspect was pursued on foot, caught, and later identified as Yanbradley Lovince, Jr., 20. Officers seized a bag of fentanyl, a bag of crack cocaine, and nearly $3,800 that he was carrying at the time. Police say Lovince, Jr. is facing charges including Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession to Distribute a Class B Drug, Armed Assault to Murder, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault & Battery, Disturbing the Peace, and Disorderly Conduct.
