Description

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV2) Vaccine clinic This information is for an upcoming vaccine clinic in at the Santa Maria Animal Shelter (not at BUNS), in Santa Maria, April 14. We are giving priority to our North County bunny owners. We will announce additional dates as we schedule them (you will stay on the waitlist until you attend a clinic, no need to sign up again). We would like to send a huge THANK YOU to Dr. Anne Sostrin, Dr. Ann O'Brien Welton, Dr. Greg Haskell, and our medical committee who are graciously giving their time to help save bunny lives! To help the clinics run smoothly, we will be handling payment and scheduling through Eventbrite.  In order to minimize the amount of time people have to spend waiting, we will be scheduling people in 30 min time blocks for each clinic, and adding time blocks as they fill up. The vaccine will cost $30 per rabbit, and you will be issued a vaccine certificate that you should keep in your records for 2 years. If the cost of the vaccine is financially prohibitive, please contact us. In order to help match animals to their vaccination status more easily, we will also be offering microchipping at the time of vaccination for an additional $10. This is optional, but in the event of natural disasters like earthquakes or fires, animals that have been microchipped are far more likely to be returned to their owners in the end, so we encourage you to take advantage of this if your rabbits are not already chipped. Please select the time you would like to come and purchase 1 ticket for each rabbit you would like to get vaccinated. If you would like to also include the microchipping, please select the Add-on op to "Microchip". You must pre-pay, we will not be accepting any payments the day of. Please ensure that all information you enter in Eventbrite is current and will allow us to contact you to send your vaccine certificate.  We will be conducting the clinics at 548 W Foster Rd, Santa Maria, CA 93455, the Santa Maria Animal Shelter. Please pull into the parking lot. You will see a table set up where you will fill out paper work. Your bunny will be brought inside.  To protect our bunnies and our staff:  Please follow all instructions and remain physically distanced until called to approach. Do NOT enter the shelter with your rabbit. Our volunteers will take your bunny from you when it is your turn.  Wear a mask and respect social distancing. We will have you fill out paperwork, and take your rabbit to the medical team that will do the exam and vaccination. This is to ensure the safety of your rabbit (from RHDV2) and our medical team (from COVID). Again, you must pre-register on Eventbrite, no walk-ups will be allowed. Thank you! BUNS Medical Committee
