For members of Girls in Glacier Hiking Group only NOTE: This hike is for vaccinated hikers only. Three-Day Backpack We will watch the weather forecasts for the best 3-4 weather days to be on the trip. We will begin at Benchmark going south on the Continental Divide Trail for 3.4 miles and turning west onto Hoadley Creek Trail for approximately 5 miles. Total elevation gain for the first day will be just over 1500 feet. We’ll set up camp at the base of the Hoadley Creek escarpment with a good water source from Hoadley Creek. On day 2, after securing our food and supplies, and needing only a day pack for water and a lunch, we will take the day to go up and over Hoadley Pass, and explore the vistas on the other side of the pass as time allows. Elevation gains on day 2 will be less than 1000 feet. We will return to our base camp for the evening.  We will exit back to Benchmark on day 3. There is no financial commitment at this point.  The commitment is with time, setting the window aside on your calendar and in equipment necessary to backpack, hike, and camp.  An initial organizational meeting will be held in March 2021 to be followed with at least one more meeting in June 2021 This will be a stunning hike and will be in the company of those who savor the sights, sounds, and smells of the wilderness. This is an area not seen by many and will not be forgotten! Interested ladies can speak with June. For planning purposes, names and numbers of interested backpackers should be finalized by spring(March preferably, no later than April 30).
