Carpenter is a NAMI Johnson County Board member, teaches Family to Family, Ending The Silence, and Provider Training. Leslie and husband, Scott, are advocates for people living with serious brain disorder at the local, state, and federal levels, and co-founded Iowa Mental Health Advocacy.
