More than 600 vaccinated health care workers from Advocate Aurora Health took over the Budweiser Bleachers at Wrigley Field last week when the Chicago Cubs hosted the Pittsburgh Pirates for their 2021 home opener. The MVP team members were invited to attend the unforgettable day at the ballpark for their tireless and selfless work in keeping their communities safe and healthy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic as well as their decision to be vaccinated. A few designated Advocate Aurora attendees even took part in some notable gameday festivities. Emilio Nicolasin from Advocate Lutheran General Hospital sang "God Bless America" and others participated in pregame on-field recognition activities and lead the seventh-inning stretch. The vaccinated health care heroes all donned the same shirt with the phrase “Essentially Filling The Bleachers.” – a nod to their takeover in the Budweiser Bleachers. Advocate Aurora partnered with Cubs Charities and Obvious Shirts on the design in addition to two other shirts now available for sale to the public at Obvious Shirts, Ivy Shop and at the Cubs Team Store at Gallagher Way. All proceeds from sales of the three shirts will go to Advocate Aurora Health COVID-19 Relief Funds. In celebration of Opening Day, 8,000 fans also received a Fan First kit upon entrance at each gate. Advocate Aurora Health, in partnership with 3M, supplied the kits, which included hand sanitizer and KN95 masks to promote a safe and clean environment.
