ORLAND TOWNSHIP, IL — With unofficial vote totals in, it looks as if Orland Township Supervisor Paul O'Grady and his slate of candidates will defeat candidate Scott Kaspar and his slate in the consolidated election. With all 75 precincts counted for, the Orland Township Together Party, backed by O'Grady, is projected to win the election. O'Grady received 69.06 percent (10,711) of the vote, while Kaspar received 30.94 percent (4,799). Incumbent Orland Township Clerk Cindy Murray and Assessor Richard Kelly ran unopposed. The projected winners in the trustee race thus far include the Orland Township Together slate. For trustee, incumbents Patrick Feldner, John Lynch, Maria Sanfilippo, along with candidate Michael Maratea appear to be taking the lead. The Orland Residents for Responsible Government slate — which includes candidates Andrea Bowles, William Keefer, Lora Kreczmer and Joseph Solek — backed by Kaspar is losing thus far. For Highway Commissioner, Antonio Rubino, Orland Township Trustee, is facing off against incumbent Brian Younker, who ran as a write-in candidate. As of Tuesday night, Rubino's results are the only ones shared in the race for Highway Commissioner. Sign up for newsletters and breaking news updates and follow us on Facebook. Orland Township residents voted "yes" to three different referenda on the ballot. The referenda were written as followed: Shall the terms of office for those persons elected to the offices of township supervisor, township trustee, township clerk, township assessor, and township highway commissioner in Orland Township at the April 6, 2021 consolidated election and at each election for any of such offices thereafter, be limited such that no person so elected may serve more than three (3) full four (4) year terms in the same office for terms beginning after the passage of this referendum?Should the U.S. Congress pass legislation to place a carbon fee on fossil fuel producers, where the money collected from those fees is divided equally among all Americans, incentivizing businesses and consumers to reduce climate destructing emissions, transition to clean energy, and protect our economic well-being?Should Orland Township petition the Illinois Department of Public Health to become a designated immunization site for when the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine becomes available? Background Two slates of candidates and a write-in are all hoping to claim Orland Township spots on Election Day.
