ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a dealership burglary, a driver who hit two hydrants, a gunshot wound and driving violations. Here is information from the latest police reports: Dealership burglary Elmhurst BMW, 500 W. Lake St., was burglarized about 1:30 a.m. Friday. Police were alerted by a burglary alarm. Officers saw two broken bay door windows on the west side of the dealership, and the suspect was seen speeding away, headed east on Lake Street. Video surveillance footage showed three men forcing entry into the business. Nothing was taken. Two hydrants hit Noe Garcia-Valasquez, 30, of Bensenville, was cited Sunday in the 700 block of Industrial Drive on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, transportation of open alcohol by a driver, failure to give information to an owner after striking property, no valid driver's license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. About 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Garcia-Velasquez struck a utility box, then hit a fire hydrant, according to a police report. The driver came to rest on top of a second hydrant and left on foot. An officer identified Garcia-Velasquez the next day. Gunshot wound A nurse at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, told police Friday that a patient in the emergency room suffered a minor gunshot grave wound to the left hip. The victim said he was shot five days ago in Chicago, but declined to give more information. An officer referred the matter to the Chicago Police Department. Fleeing Darryl J. Hill, 21, of Berkeley, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Roosevelt Road and Interstate 290 on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, an officer tried to stop Hill, but he sped away. He was later found and taken into custody. Egged Eggs were thrown at the front door and garage of a house at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of North Oaklawn Avenue. Driving violations Martin Sotelo, 32, of Lombard, was cited about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake and Grand on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and unlawful use of a phone while driving. He was released on bond. Mario Alberto Lopez Ramos, 42, of Bensenville, was cited about 9 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of North York on charges of no valid driver's license and speeding. He was released on bond.Shatavia S. Brown, 32, of Villa Park, was cited shortly before 8 p.m. Friday at York Street and Interstate 290 on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. She was released on bond. Omar Afify, 22, of Addison, was cited shortly before 10 p.m. Friday at York Street and North Avenue on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while using a phone. He was released on bond. Jordan Franshun, 20, of Melrose Park, was cited about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Road and Lawndale Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, speeding, improper window tint, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released on bond. Michael Thomas, 32, of Chicago, was cited shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday at York and Church streets on charges of driving with a suspended license, improper turn at an intersection, illegal transportation of open alcohol and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Warrants Krassimir Andonov, 47, of Chicago, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at North and Addison avenues on two DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrants and a charge of speeding.
