States With Rising COVID Infections Added To Chicago Travel Order

CHICAGO — Public health officials have added four states and Washington D.C. to the list of destinations that require travelers to quarantine or test negative for COVID-19 upon returning to the city. Starting Friday, travelers headed to 24 states and Washington D.C. are having a case rate of more than 15 new cases per 100,000 residents requires travelers to either quarantine for 10 days or have a negative coronavirus test no more than 72 hours before arrival in Chicago. Those states include: New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Florida, Delaware, Connecticut, Colorado, Vermont, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Alaska, Virginia, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Michigan, West Virginia, Maryland, Maine, North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Ohio. Twenty-five states and Puerto Rico have been designated as lower risk destinations that have no more than 15 daily coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents. Travelers aren't required to self-quarantine or produce a negative coronavirus test result upon returning from those locations to the city. Asymptomatic travelers who have been fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine or receive negative test results upon returning to the city, according to the travel order.
