Dublin Teens Organize 'Recyclable CollEggTions' To Benefit Youth

DUBLIN, CA — Got any plastic water bottles, milk cartons or aluminum cans lying around? Leave them on your porch and help local youth fundraise to build a school in Sierra Leone, Africa. The club's Easter Recyclable CollEggTions event will take place Saturday, April 10, said club President Shrey Raj. Volunteers will collect recyclables left in your front yard from 1 to 5 p.m. The ME to WE Club asks that participants sort plastic bottles, aluminum cans and milk cartons into separate bags. "COVID-19 has kept us from Easter egg hunting, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate Easter in a safe and positive way," the Dublin High School ME to WE Club wrote. Volunteers will sell the recyclables to plastic plants as part of the club's ongoing efforts to help build a school in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone's civil war was responsible for the destruction of 1,270 schools, according to Africa.com. Two in five Sierra Leone residents are literate.
