Four Incumbents, Former Member Run For VVSD School Board

BOLINGBROOK, IL— Five people are running for the Valley View school board, including four incumbents and one past member. Leonel "Leo" Venegas was appointed to the District 365U board in 2010 and served until 2015, when an accusation about the validity of his candidacy paperwork removed him from the ballot. Now, sBolingbrook and Romeoville residents will see Venegas on the ballot again this Tuesday, along with Deborah L. Sykora, Sally (Clemens) Guilbo, Victor D. Zack and Elizabeth "Liz" Campbell. Sykora, Venegas, Zack and Campbell were endorsed by the Valley View Teacher's Union. Three of the endorsed candidates are part of a campaign slate called the Friends of Valley View, which Sykora, Venegas and Zack have created with a main focus on board finances. Voting takes place on Tuesday, April 6 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents can find their polling place on the Will County Clerk's website.
