Press release from West Islip School District: April 6, 2021 A special reader recently paid a virtual visit to West Islip's Paul J. Bellew Elementary School. Beach Street Middle School's A.J. DeMaio, a former student of Bellew teacher Mary Stewart, surprised her current class on Google Meet, reading Mo Willems' "I Really Like Slop" to the third graders. The book was recommended by DeMaio's sister Olivia, a member of Stewart's class. After a theatrical reading, DeMaio discussed life at middle school, answering the younger students' questions on the lunchroom, lockers and his favorite class.
