Is there anyone out there interested in playing dununba rhythms? I'm a long time student of West African rhythms and during the pandemic I just have not had enough opportunities to play dununba rhythms. They are some of my favorites but I am having a hard time finding 2 other people to play in the 3 dunun/ traditional style. So I have decided to try and put the call out and hopefully I will find others of a like mind.
Ideally we would meet on a regular basis, and if your a little shaky I can help out. I do not want to start up any kind of drum class. There are several teachers in the area, and I can refer you to one if that is what you want. I'm looking for players that are familiar with playing dunun already and who hopefully have their own personal practice. So if we cover a rhythm and we don't quite get it, we can come back again, having practiced the parts, and nail it. I do have notation that I could share if necessary.
Below are some of the rhythms I would like to play and if you have rhythms you want to do, I am down. On the map I put on of my favorite practice spots, but I'm willing to travel. If you reach out send your phone number and I will call you. Thanks- Paul
