Purpose and Objective The purpose of this position is to provide a completely cleaned and refurbished vehicle for resale. And to provide a vehicle for delivery that is as clean as possible. Essential Job Functions Clean and refurbish new and used automobiles, performing any of the following duties: Washing exterior to clean, using cleaning solution, water, cloths and brushes. Applies wax to auto body and wipes or buffs surfaces to preserve shine, using cloth or buffing machine. Performs a complete interior cleaning of vehicle to include: Vacuuming, use of compressed air and blow gun to clean hard to reach areas, Deep upholstery and carpet cleaning with shampoo machine and use of chemicals and brushes for heavy stains. Apply interior cleaners and preservatives to protect interior. Cleans entire engine compartment using chemicals and pressure washer. Cleans all glass inside and out to a clear condition. Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly. Must be able to report to work in a timely and punctual manner. Must be able to maintain good hygiene and be well groomed. Must be able to adhere to appropriate dress code policy for each department. Must be able to take direction and work well with others. Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately. Must be able to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required Valid driver’s license required with a driving record that will pass dealership insurability guidelines. Must have basic knowledge of cleaning vehicles High school diploma or equivalent Detailers must be able to stand for long periods, bend to access lower portions of interior and exterior. It is expected that employee will follow all direction for safe use of chemicals, and wear the proper protective equipment. Ability to operate power tools including Buffer, Shampoo machine and Compressed air blow gun.
