Open Mic

Description

turns out there are a lot of rude and ignorant people who attend open mics. decent people would abide by these simple guidelines. **1) SIGN UP ONLY ONCE. when you are done playing, don't race back to put your name on the list again. when the moderator reaches the end of the list he will start over from the top, in the original order, if anyone wants to get up and play again. if you have inserted your name a second time, you are effective jumping the line, and getting ahead of everyone else. NOT FAIR.. **2: Don't bring in a "ringer" and claim you are just going to accompany them. if they are just there to back you up, you are taking two turns and cheating the rest of the players. if you have a friend or partner who wants to perform with you, you are ONE ACT. OR, have them sign up on their own, and then play along with them when their turn comes up *** 3) if you skip a spot on the list and someone else comes in and takes that spot, don't get upset and claim you were there first, or try to jump ahead of them. again, ignorance. ***4) don't sign your friends up who have not arrived. let them sign up for themselves when they arrive. Other people got there on time to get on the list. NOT FAIR to put someone's name down until they arrive. *** 5) DO NOT criticize someone's talent, or lack there of. ALL LEVELS of players are welcome. and ***6) If you are attending a "MUSICAL" open mike, PLAY MUSIC. If you are poet or karaoke singer or improve or dance troupe, there are OTHER open mics for you. *****It's sad that i have to actually post this -- but apparently we are living in very ignorant times.
