STONEHAM, MA — Stoneham voters will head to the polls Tuesday, April 6 for the 2021 Town Election. There are contested races for Select Board, School Committee and Constable. Voting is a bit different this year thanks to rules approved to expand early and mail-in voting in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Know before you go: Wear a Face CoveringBring a Pen If Possible – Blue or Black ink (machines will not read red, highlighters or pencil)Bring an ID – in some limited cases voters will be required to show an ID.Maintain Social Distancing – keep 6' away from anyone not from your householdKeep your ballot dry and free from hand sanitizers – If you have used hand sanitizer please make sure your hands are dry before handling the ballot and be sure your voting booth is dry as it will cause issues with the tabulatorSafety precautions:Voting Booths will be properly spaced and cleaned throughout the dayUnused / sanitized pens will be provided to those who need oneHand sanitizer will be provided at the entrances and exits Vote-By-MailAbsentee voting was expanded for the April 6 Town Election, as state law clarifies that any person taking precautions related to COVID-19 qualifies by reason of physical disability. The deadline to request a vote-by-mail or absentee ballot to be mailed was 5 p.m. March 31. Ballots may be returned via U.S. Mail or the Town Clerk.
