Wildland firefighters are needed to fill on-call hand crew positions for the upcoming fire season and beyond! Experienced and inexperienced candidates are invited to apply. Positions are available for beginning firefighters, experienced firefighters, squad bosses (FFT1s and ICT5s), and chain saw operators. Entry Level / Refresher Training and Work Capacity Test will be provided. The Work Capacity Test requires an individual to walk three miles with a 45 pound weight load within 45 minutes or less. Entry level base pay is $14.00/hour with an additional $4.54/hour Health and Welfare benefit paid on the first 40 hours worked in a work week. Base hourly rates may be higher, depending on qualifications and experience. Overtime will be paid on any hours worked over 8 in a day. Last season, our beginning firefighters made an average of $285.00 per day! Successful candidates will be team- and safety- oriented, flexible, able to take direction well, and willing to tolerate harsh working and living conditions while on emergency assignments. The ability to respond immediately and consistently to dispatch calls is required. Typical incident assignment duration is two weeks, but may be extended to 30 days, exclusive of travel.
