Description
Greetings! I am a 31 year old musician seeking a like minded lyricist/musician, preferably female, to join creative forces and start working together on a long term and mutually democratic music project. I have a bunch of material in various stages of completion that I have been working on over the past couple years that need vocal parts and/or additional instrumentation. I am no longer interested in singing completely on my own and would prefer for someone else to take lead. Basically I am looking for a creative songwriting partner to vibe with and perhaps share vocal duties with if the song permits it. I would still like to have a hand in some lyrical content but ultimately I would leave it up to you. Also, I can do backing vocals and other vocal fills if necessary. My primary instrument is guitar and I would say I have an intermediate knowledge of the instrument. I am self taught and have been playing since I was 17 but there is always room for growth. I am good at writing chord progressions, constructing guitar ambience and playing rhythmic lead. I produce, write and record everything using a 32 track digital Tascam recorder. I also have ableton live 10 intro and recently acquired a 4 track Tascam cassette recorder in working condition. I own a decent microphone, an electric bass, two electric guitars, various pedals and an elektron analog mk II rytm drum machine. I envision the project as a sort of experimental indie artsy trip hop with elements of folk, rock, post punk, noise, shoegaze and electronica. It's a bit all over the place i know but i don't really have a solid idea of what genre we could set ourselves in. Our goal would be to write, record and play as much as humanly possible with the hopes of us getting a full band going at some point to start playing shows. So this would be a rather serious endeavor to partake in. I am also down for doing some acoustic stuff as well. I think the drum machine with acoustic guitar and guitar ambience could be very interesting to do in a live open mic setting. As for a practice space we could always use rocket space unless a more private and safe space were to eventually become available. Some of my influences: Broadcast, Mogwai, NIN, Beach House, Cocteau Twins, Amen Dunes, The Ex, Thom Yorke, Neil Young, Nick Cave, Sparklehorse, Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, My Bloody Valentine, Deerhunter, Portishead, Massive Attack, Bjork, Pj Harvey, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Sonic Youth, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, James Holden. If any of this sounds interesting or appealing to you feel free to reach out to talk more about the project and i will also send out links to songs/demos of things i've made upon request. Thanks for reading!
