Did you know that Addy Walker was inspired by the history of a real family from Stagville? Join us for a special child's tour on April 10. Did you know that American Girl Addy Walker was inspired by the story of a real freedom seeker from Stagville? Join us in celebrating Addy's birthday with a special children's tour of Historic Stagville. Discover the history of an enslaved family whose journey to freedom inspired this well-known children's book. All ages are welcome, but this tour is best for students in 3rd-6th grade. We'll explore the fictional story of Addy and the true history of Mary Walker and her family. On your tour, you'll visit historic slave dwellings to learn about the lives and culture of enslaved families in North Carolina, including seeing artifacts from Addy's story. This tour will be limited to groups of 12 people, with masks and social distancing required. The tour will be almost entirely outdoors, with brief walks through the historic buildings. This event is intended for children, and adults should attend with each child.
