Press release from the Sacramento Public Library: Celebrate National Library Week (April 4-10) In honor of National Library Week, Sacramento Public Library will bring two virtual events for children hosted by City of Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby. Children's Illustrator Visit with Robin Preiss Glasser | April 8 at 3:30 p.m. Robin Preiss Glasser will share the story of how she went from being a professional ballet dance to illustrator, to Fancy Nancy and beyond. She will also read her new book, Escape Goat. With over 100 books to her credit, and winner of the Children's Book Council's "Illustrator of the Year Award" in 2013, Robin is best known as the illustrator of Fancy Nancy, the "more is always better" heroine of the New York Times best-selling series with author Jane O'Connor. Lambslide and Escape Goat, written by international best-selling novelist Ann Patchett, are her most recent books. Advance registration for this event is required. The first 100 registrants will receive a copy of Escape Goat. This event is hosted by Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby. Save My Spot Children's Author Visit with Laura Numeroff | April 10 at 11 a.m. Laura Numeroff will read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Raising a Hero. She'll also share how she became an author and about her passion for service dogs. Numeroff is the New York Times bestselling author of over 40 children's books, most notably If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and eight other titles in the If You Give...series. She is also the author of Raising a Hero, about a boy helping to raise a puppy to become a service dog. Advance registration for this event is required. The first 100 registrants will receive a copy of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. This event is hosted by Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby.
