NH Attorney General Investigating Suspicious Death, Fire In Derry

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, the state fire marshal, and Derry police chief are investigating a suspicious death in Derry on Sunday. Limited information is being released about the fire on Mount Pleasant Street or what exactly happened in the home that took the life of a woman and injured a man — who was taken to a Boston hospital. "Based on facts known at this time, there is no evidence to suggest that there is a threat to the general public," according to Kate Giaquinto, the director of communications for the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. According to posts from scanner jockeys and journalists on Twitter, the original call came in as "multiple people with gunshot injuries at a house fire" on the street and four ambulances were requested, according to MassFirePics. Keith Stramaglia, a former firefighter, posted on Twitter later that the fire at the house went to two alarms and people were trapped inside. MassFirePics reported later that multiple victims were taken to the hospital. According to Journalist Mike Saccone, two police officers were taken to the hospital with minor burns around 11 p.m. on Sunday. At the same time this incident was going on, firefighters from southern New Hampshire, including Salem and Derry, were also called to Lawrence for a five-alarm fire that damaged seven buildings.
