Press release from the City of Las Vegas: Apr 05, 2021 National Community Development Week is being recognized April 5-9, 2021. The objective of this week is to educate the community on the importance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program and their impact on the community. The Community Development Program provides annual grants to states, counties and cities to provide decent and suitable living environments and economic opportunities. Every $1 of CDBG leverages another $4.09. Since 2005, CDBG has: The HOME Investment Partnerships Program provides grants to state and local governments to create affordable housing for low-income households. Every $1 of HOME leverages another $4.52. Since 1992, HOME has: The city of Las Vegas has benefitted immensely from these two programs. We receive approximately $5 million as our annual CDBG allocation and $2 million in HOME. CDBG grant funds typically fund public service projects, housing rehabilitation programs and capital improvement projects. During this current fiscal year, funds have been allocated to the construction of the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center, Health & Wellness Center and the West Las Vegas Employment Center.
