Eden's Hit-And-Run Driver Injures 2 Women After Fight: Police

JOLIET, IL — Two women were struck by a fleeing motorist during a parking lot fight that broke out around 2:05 a.m. Saturday at Eden's Bar & Grill on Joliet's east side. One of the women suffered life-threatening injuries, Joliet police said. Police say they captured the hit-and-run driver, 24-year-old Joliet resident Dontayasia Stephens, and booked her into the Will County Jail on two charges of aggravated battery. A second Joliet resident, 29-year-old Michael Price, was also arrested at Eden's on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer. Initially, Joliet police cars rushed to Eden's, 926 Gardner St., to break up a parking lot fight. "Upon arrival, officers located two female adult victims that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle," Joliet police reports show. "Further investigation revealed during a fight in the parking lot, a vehicle driven by Stephens struck and injured a female adult victim. During the course of this incident, Stephens placed her vehicle in reverse and struck a second female adult victim. Stephens then fled the scene in the vehicle." The two women who were hit by Stevens' car were taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center, police said. Joliet officers later located Stephens, who lives in the 3200 block of Karen Court. She was booked into the Will County Jail around 10:30 a.m. By Saturday night, she was no longer in custody after posting 10 percent of her $200,000 bail, jail records indicate. Meanwhile, back at Eden's, as Joliet officers tried to render aid to one of the victims, Price struck an officer, prompting his arrest on felony charges, police said. Price was released from the Will County Jail on Saturday night after posting 10 percent of his $20,000 bail.
