BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A suspect has been taken into custody at 8:30 Monday night after a standoff with Beverly Hills police and SWAT units in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and Doheny Drive that lasted more than three hours. At around 4:40 p.m., police began chasing a man suspected of stealing a white Toyota Corolla in Beverly Hills, City News Service reports. The chase ended just before 5 p.m., when the suspect crashed into another car at Wilshire Boulevard and Doheny Drive. The man remained in the vehicle for about three and a half hours, refusing to leave. Police shut down the surrounding area at 4:52 p.m., and later called in at least one armored SWAT truck, seven police cars, and two fire trucks. Lt. Kim of the Beverly Hills Police Department told KTLA that some people were hospitalized, but he was unaware how many.
