TUCSON, AZ — Two people died in a late-night crash inside an intersection in Tucson on Friday night, according to Tucson Police. The crash, which occurred at 29th Street and Columbus Boulevard at 11:25 p.m., left the driver of one vehicle and the passenger in another dead, police said. The two vehicles involved in the crash were a Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a Chrysler 300 sedan, police said. A passenger in the Tundra and the driver of the Chrysler dying from their injuries, while the driver of the pickup was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, police said. According to police, the pickup truck failed to stop at a red light and crashed with the Chrysler as it was traveling south on Columbus Boulevard. Police said the pickup truck driver was not impaired at the time of the crash but did have alcohol in his system. Excessive speed and the Toyota pickup failing to stop at the light are the factors that led to the crash, police said. No charges or citations have been issued at this time, according to police.
