TUSCALOOSA, AL — The West Alabama Narcotics Task Force and PRIDE of Tuscaloosa will partner later this month with several locations in the area for National Prescription Drug Take-back Day, which will offer the opportunity for those in the community to safely dispose of expire and unused medications.
The drug take-back day will be April 24 at six Tuscaloosa-area locations from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
PRIDE Executive Director Jamie Lake told Patch that the areas pharmacies were crucial in making the initiative possible and praised the different parties involved.
"Prescription medications are for a specific reason, prescribed for a patient for a specific time and when they expire, they are no longer valid to be used in any way," Lake said. "You have children and young people at home who might not understand that, so it's important we create the awareness."
