Mortar removal/replacement

We have a house with a lot of brickwork on first floor and in garden and some of the mortar is crumbly. Anyone have experience with removing and replacing crumbly mortar in brick walls and be interested in doing this for pay? If so please describe your experience in a few sentences (what did you do, with what tools?). What would be your rate of pay expectations (hourly basis please)? We’d want to start with a small section and see how it works out but if you could get the job working nicely there’s a good bit of work here (hundreds of linear feet of mortar that needs to be removed/replaced).
