POSITION SUMMARY The Household assistant role is responsible for supporting a young, friendly, and socially-minded professional couple (no children or pets) on Bainbridge Island, WA. Our clients are looking for a 4-days-a-week (average 32 hrs/week) household assistant with whom they can build a long-term relationship. The household assistant will focus on daily housekeeping for a 3,000 square foot home, adjacent stand-alone office and guest cottage, as well as laundry tasks. The ideal candidate will be a laundry maven who is adept at laundry-related tasks (i.e., machine and hand washing, line, machine drying, spot removal, light repair, dry cleaning coordination, etc.). In addition to being a laundry expert, this position also requires a finesse for culinary management, including meal planning, household meal preparation 3-4 times per week, and kitchen cleaning and organization. Maintaining and managing the laundry and kitchen is a priority. The household assistant will provide daily household cleaning, organizing, grocery shopping and pantry stocking, and provide daily support to the couple as requested. This position will initially report directly to the couple and, later this summer, to the new Executive Assistant/Property Manager. This role requires a self-motivated individual who takes the initiative when tidying and tending to spaces. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating beautiful, peaceful spaces in the home (a plus if you’re well-acquainted with Feng Shui, and have an inordinate love for the Container Store and Pinterest!). We are looking for a team player with a service-oriented focus who conducts themselves with professionalism. This role requires a thoughtful, intuitive approach to moving throughout the home when the owners are present and a sensitivity to preserving their privacy and respecting their personal space. Local candidates only with dependable transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed for any errand running required, at the federal standard reimbursement rate. Weekly Schedule working onsite in the residence is preferably Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with flexibility to manage errands and projects off site during parts of some days. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Household Responsibilities: Cleaning & maintaining the kitchen, in particular, keeping up with daily dishes Laundry, occasional ironing, dry-cleaning delivery and pick-up Tidying and regular house cleaning, including bathrooms, mopping floors, dusting, vacuuming, etc. Changing bed linens & making beds Weekly menu planning, ingredients prep Cooking several meals each week, and making fresh juices Monitoring and stocking pantry and household necessities Closet, pantry & home organizing in support of the couple's professional organizer Grocery shopping and errand running Picking up packages and assisting the EA/Property Manager with logging and tracking as requested Maintaining beautiful, peaceful spaces in the home Detailed, deep cleaning while the couple is out of town or not present Additional organizing and special projects as requested QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Minimum of 3 years experience providing residential housekeeping, household assistance, laundry, or organizing support Knowledge of laundry care is essential - must know the causes of shrunken clothes and be able to avoid them! A good cook with knowledge and passion for healthy eating - think vegetarian, paleo, Ayurvedic, etc. Demonstrated experience in maintaining the confidentiality, safety, & privacy of a private employer Highly professional with excellent communication skills Superbly organized Preference for a candidate local to Bainbridge island or surrounding areas, such as: Kitsap County, ideally Bainbridge Island, Poulsbo, Indianola, or Kingston areas Must have their own transportation Must have references Personal Service Qualities Dedicated, easy-going, and personable Service-oriented and flexible Honest, dependable, and punctual Values confidentiality and exhibits discretion Warm, poised, intuitive, respectful of energy An interest in yoga, meditation, mindfulness, or similar practice is a plus Self-motivated Enjoys creating beautiful spaces Is observant and attentive to the couple’s preferences and intuitive at replicating the qualities they enjoy Has a can-do attitude, with no task being too great or too small ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Targeting ~32 hrs/week, but flexing up to 40 hrs/week based on how the role evolves and with occasional projects. Some flexibility on schedule in terms of days and start/end times, but a preference for a later start in the morning.
