Learn to paddle efficiently and safely to better enjoy when you paddle for fun (or go kayak fishing).
American Canoe Association certified Coastal Kayak instructor teaches both sit-in (sea kayak, recreation) and sit-on-top (SOT) paddling skills.
Spring and early Summer schedule:
Introduction to Kayaking, ACA Level 1 (6-8 hrs) - Learn several basic strokes and basic self & assisted rescues.
Prerequisite - none
For: The brand new paddler, one who has kayaked a little and knows they want to paddle more effectively and efficiently, and one wants to learn basic rescues.
Dates: Saturday, May 1st and Wednesday, May 19th
Essentials of Kayak Touring, ACA Level 2 (8 hrs) - basic strokes improvement and some complex strokes introduced, bracing, and more self & assisted rescues
Prerequisite - Level 1 or instructor permission
For: The paddler who wants to become a more proficient & safer paddler. Someone who is beginning to push the envelop of distance paddling or beginning to venture into open water paddling where shore is beyond easy swimming distance.
Dates: Saturday, May 22nd and Thursday, May 27th
Location: Varies on the MS Gulf Coast based on the weather forecast for the day of training. Registered students will be advised approximately 48 hours prior to class.
Additional training available when requested: Specialized self-rescue and assisting another paddler rescue, day trip leader, and rolling classes. Call to get early notification when classes are planned.
