Grass Roots Community Cleanup/Educational Effort. Diverse cemetery that is not assisted by the city/county/state, dates back to 1860, possibly further. Native Americans, Freed Slaves, Persons of International Nativity, Persons of Texas State Republic Nativity, Persons born in other US States - all buried here. Saturday April 17 2021 Arrive anytime between sunrise and sunset (meeting is around 10 am) Stay the entire time, or just stay a few hours. Bring the family ! Bring Co-Workers ! Bring Church Family ! Please mark your calendars, we have 4 meetings per calendar year (second Sunday usually, 10 am): January - Second Sunday Meeting @ 10 am, Whataburger April - Meeting, at cemetery, plus Clean up WEEKEND (Saturday AND Sunday) July - Second Sunday Meeting @ 10 am, Whataburger October - Meeting, at cemetery, plus Clean up WEEKEND (Saturday AND Sunday) General Agenda: "Meeting First"We will have a quick meeting around 10 am or so. Volunteers: 1 There is no electricity or running water. 2 Watch out for poison oak/ivy. 3 Kids welcome but must be closely attended to by their parents/adult responsible for them. 4 PSHCA cannot be responsible for damage done to equipment or persons. 5 Please bring as many supplies as you can. 6 Make sure all your equipment is in working condition before arrival. 7 Wear long pants, long sleeves, closed-toe shoes, goggles, gloves, face masks. 8 WATCH YOUR STEP. 9 BEWARE PILES OF LEAVES OR ROCKS, there might be "inhabitants" lurking there. This IS Texas. 10 Bring Lawn Chairs and bring plenty of food/water; although we TRY to have lunch provided, we can't guarantee that it will be. 11 Please bring 1 or 2 gallons of water for the water barrel. 12 Please stay away from the stones unless authorized to go near. Toppling hazards exist. 13 Bring your camera ! Trash Detail -- clean up all the way to the street, all around the site. 1 Please take the trash away with you 2 Supplies Needed (PSHCA has "some" if needed): a Contractor bags recommended, but others are just fine too b “Grabber” makes it easy on the back Lawn and Garden - This is What Takes Up Most/All of our Time(Weeding, Limb Removal, Grass Cutting, Dusting the Fire Ants if needed, clearing fenceline of weeds) Supplies Needed: (PSHCA has "some" if needed): 1 Fire Ant Killer 2 Agricultural Vinegar preferred 3 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): a Leather/Rubber Gloves, Face mask, Goggles 4 Wheelbarrows, Rakes, Shovels, Pitchforks, Saws, Pruners, Brooms, Paper Rubbish Bags, Plastic Trash Bags, Paper Towels/old newspapers/sandpaper/Painters Tape, Gasoline, Weed-eater String 5 Tools for quick repairs 6 Gas lawn equipment; again, there is no electricity. 7 Nuts for the squirrels ? 8 Water for the barrels, empty milk jugs to transport water from barrel 9 Fertilizer for what we've planted in the past. We have roses, rosemary, lantana so far. "Other" - We have a list onsite. If there is anything left to do at sundown on Saturday, we can come back on the Sunday. If interested, free tours of the cemetery are available. If you would like to join our membership, the dues are $25 annually, and we could surely put the money to good use. Thanks !
